Mission and Purpose

The Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® (PSAR) Good Neighbor Award honors the exceptional work of PSAR REALTOR® and Affiliate members who make significant contributions in their communities. This accolade recognizes individuals who selflessly invest their time and talents in local endeavors and organizations. Monthly, PSAR will highlight the crucial role that real estate professionals play in enriching the quality of life within San Diego County. From these quarterly honorees, annually, a Recognition Committee will choose one standout member to receive the prestigious annual award. This annual recognition not only celebrates individual commitment but also financially supports the non-profits chosen by the winning member, further strengthening our dedication to fostering community development and well-being.

Award

PSAR will submit the Local Winner for a National Award.  NAR will award the following: 

• Five Good Neighbor Award winners will each receive:
  • A $10,000 grant for their community cause
  • Travel expenses for the winner and a guest to attend the REALTORS® Conference & Expo
  • National exposure in REALTOR® Magazine, nar.realtor, and other real estate media, as well as at the NAR conference, which has more than 20,000 attendees
  • A custom-designed lead crystal Good Neighbor Award trophy
  • Use of the Good Neighbor Winner logo on marketing and promotional materials
    
• Additionally, five honorable mentions will each receive:
  • A $2,500 grant for their community cause
  • National exposure in REALTOR® Magazine, nar.realtor, and other real estate media
  • A Good Neighbor Honorable Mention wall plaque
  • Use of the Good Neighbor Honorable Mention logo on marketing and promotional materials.

Criteria

• Nominees must be REALTOR® or Affiliate members in good standing of the Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS®.
• Nominees must be active licensed practitioners.
• Nominees will be judged on the level of personal contribution, especially volunteer (unpaid) hours, though contributions of money and other resources will also be considered.
• Some portion of the nominee’s work must have taken place within the 12 months before the nomination rolling deadline of the last business day of each quarter.
• This award is intended to recognize individuals, not associations or companies. If an individual within your company can be singled out as instrumental to the success of a group effort, he or she is eligible.
• If the achievements of two people (such as a married couple or co-founders of an organization) cannot be separated, they can enter as a pair, and their entry will be considered as one.

Deadline

• Each year, rolling applications will be accepted starting January 1st and ending December 31st.  
• Quarterly award nominees will be chosen from the selection of applicants submitted each quarter.
• The Annual Award Winner will be announced at the Annual PSAR Real Estate Achievement & Leadership Celebration (REAL Awards) in the 1Q of each year.

Rules

• REALTOR® or Affiliate Members may nominate themselves or may be nominated by ANY other individual.
• Recognition Committee members and their families, sponsors/sponsor employees, or their families are ineligible to win.
• Award finalists must sign an affidavit of eligibility, submit to a criminal history check, and be willing to be interviewed, photographed, filmed, and nominated for submission to the National Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award.
• Award monies will only be granted to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations actively supporting San Diego County Communities.
• Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® staff and PSAR Recognition Committee members will not accept lobbying efforts on behalf of nominees.
