With fiery red streaks in her hair, PSAR 2015 President Carey Guthrie shared her thoughts with a packed house of 320 members and more that twenty government and civic leaders.
What comes to mind when I think of our outstanding Association? I believe, ladies and gentlemen, that we are more than just an association of REALTORS®. Rather, we are an association of outstanding members. Wouldn't you agree that we are at our greatest when we are working alongside our affiliate members?
I wanted to come here and speak like Churchill and stand like Lincoln. But, the book I ordered to tell me how to do that hasn't yet arrived. So, I’m going to speak to you like Carey and stand proud and tall like I should as your 2015 Association president.
When I look at our members in this room, I know why we are successful. To quote Marilyn Monroe, “Everyone’s a star and deserves the right to twinkle.” And that’s what I see you all doing right now.
We are so strong as an Association. We are on everyone’s radar. We are the talk of the town, but in a good way. For being a smaller Association, we have many C.A.R appointments. When we travel to the C.A.R meetings, everyone asks us, “What are you doing? Everything sounds like it’s going so great for your Association.” My response? I say the key is participation and the fact that everyone is working together towards the same goal.
And that’s hard to do, but we’re pulling it off in 2015. We’re moving in the right direction. Membership is growing. The wheels are moving. We’re exploring a statewide M.L.S System for you. We’re keeping your dues low, while extending more member benefits every time we possibly can. When you enter one of our services branches, the customer service is top notch and the staff is still always looking to see if there is anything they can do better.
In 2015, you can look forward to many educational classes, as well as top-notch caravans and fun charity events.
So, I know you would like to get on with this party. I love P.S.A.R. So, in closing, ladies and gentlemen, “WE’RE ON FIRE!”
