PSAR REALTOR® members and affiliate members have many opportunities to get involved by serving on a variety of PSAR committees. The South County Charity Committee is a very active PSAR committee.

This committee of caring PSAR members selects ways to share PSAR resources and talent within the community through outreach and service. Their goal is to provide the necessary support to make a positive charitable impact within the communities served by PSAR members. The volunteers serving on the PSAR Charity Committee evaluate and review requests from nonprofits in the community. Then, they select worthy charitable causes to support.

Most recently, the South County Charity Committee has organized PSAR’s annual “Zombie 5k Run-Walk” held in October at Rohr Park in Bonita. Participants wear costumes at the fundraiser that last year benefited AJ’s Kids’ annual holiday toy drive for Rady Children’s Hospital (organized by radio personality A.J. Machado of KEGY-FM Energy 103.7) and South Bay Community Services’ transitional housing program for former foster youth and homeless youth while they finish school or complete job training.

In addition, the Charity Committee organizes PSAR’s annual “Casino Night at Viejas,” a bus trip to Viejas Casino in Alpine that includes raffle tickets and discounts on the dinner buffet at the casino and Viejas Outlet Center stores.

The Charity Committee also organized the recent inaugural PSAR REALTOR® Games at Scobee Park. Proceeds will benefit three charities, including Unity 4 Orphans, South Bay Community Services and HomeAid San Diego.

Members of the South County Charity Committee include Kim Peterson (co-chair), Angie West (co-chair), Juanita Adame, Rhonda Beathard, Robert Cromer, Yvonne Cromer, Merrie Espina, Maribel London, Rose Lopez, Lilly Molina, Gigi Prieto, Angelita Renteria, Norliza Rodriguez, Tony Santiago, Tristen Stokes, Larry Van Rickley, Jan Wilcox and Michael Dullea.

“By serving on the PSAR South County Charities Committee, I find it personally rewarding to have the opportunity to give back and make a difference in a community where I have raised my own family in,” said Kim Peterson. “It also gives me a sense of pride to know that I work in an industry where PSAR members continually invest their time and energy back into this community.”

“It’s an honor to give back, get involved and create positive change in our industry and in our communities that we live and work in,” said Robert Cromer.

“I am so honored to be working with this fantastic, energetic group of REALTORS® and affiliates on the Charity Committee,” said Jan Wilcox. “It is so rewarding to work towards a common goal for your community and especially help youth in our community. For myself, as a mother of five, I understand the support and needs that kids have growing up. And, if I can impact that positively in my community too, then why not.”

“The charity committee has been a wonderful addition to PSAR,” said Michael Dullea. “It’s been the best committee I have been a part of at PSAR, all because of the people in it. Every person who joins this group has a giving heart. We have all been involved in other organizations, perhaps through our respective churches or service groups like Rotary, but with this PSAR committee we are able to give back and represent our industry at the same time. It feels great that they know the gift came from this specific real estate industry trade group. I have forged many friendships over the last couple years with some amazing people who do a lot of good for our community. I am blessed to be part of such a great group of people within the PSAR.”

“The charity committee has complemented the REALTOR® in their civic responsibility to help those in need,” said Lilly Molina. “It has been a pleasure and honor to serve in the Charity Committee that has done some fabulous work and has brought together REALTORS® from across all different areas and companies, as well as title companies, lending institutions, mortgage officers, escrow companies, insurance companies and other businesses, to help those in need.”

“Our Association is such a giving community,” said Rhonda Beathard. “Our members are active in supporting the community. The finest people in the real estate industry belong to PSAR.”

“Giving back to the community makes me feel good,” said Larry Van Rickley. “It demonstrates my natural leadership abilities through helping others. I do well because I was asked.”
