Ethics and Professional Standards

The National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics is the one factor that distinguishes REALTORS® from other real estate agents. The Code of Ethics is universally recognized by practitioners, lawyers and laymen alike as the measure of professionalism in real estate.

Every REALTOR® is required to take ethics training every 4 years.  However, in the unfortunate event you have a complaint against a member REALTOR®, we ask that you contact our Professional Standards Department, at 619-421-7811 or e-mail prostandards@psar.org.

Is the person you are working with licensed?  Verify the information here with the California Department of Real Estate:

Through our Professional Standards Department, the Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® has one of the most well respected programs in the State of California.

We can offer members of the public and our members different ways to solve a dispute.

Arbitration Information

Members submit to PSAR an arbitration request including a summary of the events and pay a $500 filing fee. The process will begin and a hearing will be scheduled to settle the matter. Because of a potential perceived conflict of interest, non Realtor members are referred to: The American Arbitration Association (619) 239-3051. For more information about filing a Commission Dispute among REALTORS follow this link.

 Ethics link

To preserve the integrity of our industry we encourage REALTORS® to adhere to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. Any violations of the Code of Ethics by one of our members should be reported to the association. To learn more about filing and Ethics or Disciplinary Complaint follow this link.
